Assistance to Overseas Filipino Workers
The philanthropic pursuits of William T. Gatchalian are most evident in the area of assistance to some of the millions of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in the Middle East. He was instrumental in the release of both Sarah Balabagan and John Aquino thus, in 2001, former President Joseph Estrada appointed Mr. Gatchalian as the Presidential Adviser on OFW Affairs with the rank of cabinet secretary.

Outreach in Valenzuela City
The Gatchalian family maintains various outreach and charitable programs in their home city of Valenzuela, Metro Manila. These causes range from medical missions, food/feeding programs, scholarships, calamity assistance, social amelioration activities, as well as support to the local government, police and firefighters, public schools and religious sectors.
Sherwin T. Gatchalian, the eldest among the children of William T. Gatchalian, is presently the Mayor of the city. Rexlon T. Gatchalian, another son, is the Congressman of the First District. The latter is one of the youngest representatives of the 14th Congress of the Republic of the Philippines.

Jesus Our Life Ministries, Inc.
Jesus Our Life Ministries, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded by D.H. Gatchalian (wife of William T. Gatchalian) dedicated to Christian Evangelical missions. The non-denominational ministry has three local churches in Valenzuela City, Metro Manila located in Maysan, Lawang Bato and Lingunan. The organization operates satellite churches in Novaliches, Pangasinan, Catanduanes and Palawan, as well as a Christian School, JOL Christian Academy, in Valenzuela City.

The company’s mission is to conduct a viable, sustainable and responsible mining operation through the utilization of environmentally safe and socially responsive policies and programs. The company is pursuing this through various activities offered to the host community such as tree-planting and setting up of nurseries, adoption of water sheds, coastal cleaning and water treatment and mine rehabilitation programs. On the community relations, aside from livelihood projects, the company sponsors community consultations and awareness program focused on health, safety, and the environment. It also established livelihood programs among the natives through cooperatives and supports the needs of the host community through the construction of roads, water systems, and other basic infrastructures.
